Post Video Presentation

The editing has been done and we have watched the video with the class. To say they least I didn’t think anyone would like it but we got amazing live feedback while the video was playing.

I enjoyed the rubric grading system, it was nice to be able to give feedback on other people’s work and see what a lecturer has to do with all of our work.

The video overall was very funny and it’s all thanks to the magic green screen. Gavin and Sean were the main stars in the video as I preferred not to be in it! I filmed most of the clips and helped set up the green screen. Setting up a green screen isn’t actually as easy as it seems. The surface of the fabric has to be as flat as possible and behind the person has to be well lit so the the shadow doesn’t affect the quality.
Overall I really enjoyed making the video for this mission. If I was to change anything if I was to do this again I would attempt to be in the video and push myself out of my comfort zone.

Thanks for reading!

Making of the Video

Filming has commenced and we are very excited to be using a green screen for this video! We went with Mapping in the end and after brainstorming loads of ideas we came to the conclusion that the concept behind our video is to map out how 1916 is connected to Brexit. The idea is not at all meant to be serious as you will see but we thought a more satirical video would catch the attention of the class as they will be marking it with a rubric system.

Above is our brainstorm map for how each little thing links with the next so that you can get from 1916 to Brexit. There’s some ideas that we put in specifically for the class to understand so it wouldn’t be too boring. (even though the whole thing is a joke really) For example the Epstein didn’t kill himself part is a meme trending online recently.

I can not wait to finish the video completely and see what it’s like after the final edit.

The Final Mission

The time has arrived! We are finally on the last mission for Intro to Digital Media. For this mission we have to create a video in groups of three. The tag for this mission is methodology, I'm not quit sure what that means but I hope I will get it by the end of the mission.

I'm not too sure what to choose from the list of subjects but mapping and networks look appealing to me. One is very old-fashioned and the other is very modern and technology based. I would like to produce a well done video that is clear on the subject and easy to follow along. Working with people in other groups could pose to be a challenge for this mission due to difference in timetables. I hope it won't interrupt the process too much.

For shooting the video Gavin has a 4k camera which will be perfect for filming the video. We all have access to the Adobe programmes here in college but Gavin also has it on his computer at home. That will come in very handy if we need to make some last minute edits to the video and can't access the Mac Labs in college.
We were thinking of using a green screen for the video to add in a background and make the video either more professional or make it more funny. We will see how that goes in the end product but I hope it doesn't ruin the video.

Reflection

I think the end product for this mission wasn't as good as I would like it to be. I think I need more content and some original ideas for the presentations. I completely sound like a hypocrite because I said less text is better but I couldn't figure out how to summarise without adding too much information to the slide. I think if I was to do this again I would definitely just have a few points and have my main info on little flash cards so I can glance down at them from time to time instead of reading from the presentation.

The Product

The presentation has been coming together and I think its looking good. My partner in this mission is Gareth. He's doing memes over time and the history of how the meme began. I'm creating memes and researching the different types. I'll be posting a meme I make to my twitter account.

The Next Mission

For this mission the theme is culture. Out of all the options presented to me I chose to go with Memes. I wanted to do this specific theme because I like memes and thought it would be good to learn more about them and where they came from.

I decided I wanted to do the presentation with examples of memes on most slides. I learned from the last mission that having too much text on the slides isn't great. I need to cut down on text and talk more.

Reflection on my first assignment
I learned quite a bit from this creativity assignment. When gifs are made the quality is reduced to compensate for the image format. I didn't know this previously but it makes sense as to why the quality is bad.

I learned that producing a gif is actually quite easy with the right software. GIPHY is one of the websites I used to make some gifs for the presentation. Here is one of my dog!

Something I learned about myself is that I procrastinate a lot more than I thought I did which isn't great but I think that I can learn from this and try my best to get things done in the right time frame.
First Assignment!
My first assignment in Intro to Digital Media is based on creativity. I chose to do the art of the animated gif with my group. Megan and Daniella are in my group because we all like gifs and use them regularly. I hope to learn more about gifs and how they work. I'd like to create a presentation that catches peoples eye and makes them want to learn more about gifs. I would love to learn how to make better quality and different types of gifs.

Introduction to Shenanigans

My name is Lauren, I am 19 years old and this is an introduction to my blog. To get know me better I'm going to talk about things I find interesting and more.

Food:
My favourite food has to be noodles, but only specifically Koka Noodles and it has to be the chicken flavour. If its not chicken flavour then I don't want it. I will also settle for soft noodles from the Chinese but only if there's no other choice in the matter.
I am also partial to pizza. My ideal pizza is loaded with mozzarella cheese and has a thick crust. I only go for stuffed crust if I'm feeling fancy and have the money for it, which isn't very often.

Pets:
I have a dog called Lilly, she's a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel crossed with a French Hunting Spaniel. I got her from my uncles aunt when she was a puppy as a surprise from my parents when I was 9. Her birthday is on the 7th of October and she will be 10 years old. She is deathly afraid of the dishwasher for some reason and she basically has a panic attack whenever it's on. She used to have a cat friend but not anymore. (R.I.P kitty neighbour.) In my opinion she likes me the most in my family :)

(A photo of Lilly taken by me on my phone.)

Hobbies:
In my spare time I like to go horse riding in my local equestrian centre which is located around the corner from my house. I've been riding since I was 9 and have around 7-8 rosettes from competitions one of which is a 1st place rosette for dressage. I like show-jumping and cross country more than dressage but I am somewhat of a perfectionist so dressage is a strong point for me as I can study the test beforehand.
